Hemstitch Linen Napkin — Optical White

$37.50
sold out

A seasonal piece from Milla's studio, made by hand in Seattle from European linen of the highest grade.

The hemstitch is drawn the traditional way — threads pulled individually from the weave — then the hems are finished on a studio sewing machine, one napkin at a time. It's slow work, and it shows in the way the napkin sits on the table: substantial, quietly textured, with the soft fall that only proper linen has.

Milla makes these in small runs alongside her paintings, in three colors released by season. Optical White is the purest of the three — a clean, true white that holds its own against silver, crystal, and polished wood. The most formal option in the collection.

The details

  • European linen, plain weave, 7.1 oz

  • Hand-pulled hemstitch borders

  • 18 × 26 inches — generous, with intentional drape

  • Premier finish: soft to the hand from the first use, softer with every wash

  • Made by hand in Milla's Seattle studio

  • Optical White. Standard colors ship within the week.

Care:

Linen rewards a gentle hand and gets better with washing. A few notes from the studio:

  • Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle

  • Skip the permanent press setting, in both wash and dry

  • Non-chlorine bleach only, and only if needed

  • Tumble dry low

  • Press with a medium steam iron while still slightly damp
