Original art by Milla Petrova
Original paintings by Milla Petrova, now held by collectors. A record of work made over the years — and a sense of the range that's brought her to her current direction.
ORANGE SPLASH: A study in the moment of impact — the orange caught mid-descent, color blooming through the displaced water. Part of a three-painting series acquired together by a single collector, in acrylic on canvas. Held in a private collection.
LIME SPLASH: The center of the series, with two halves of a lime suspended in their own splash. Cut fruit reads differently than whole — the painting shows the pulp, the seeds, the way water finds the inside of the fruit. Acrylic on canvas, part of a three-painting series. Held in a private collection.
LEMON SPLASH: A lemon entering still water, the splash rising in a translucent crown above the surface. Painted in acrylic, with close attention to how light passes through water and skin at the same time. Part of a three-painting series acquired together by a single collector. Held in a private collection.
A commissioned three-panel oil painting. The collector envisioned a still life that would carry the energy of blown glass into painting — translucent color, twisting form, motion caught in stillness. Held in a private collection, Santa Barbara, California.
Milla rendered each element with the saturation and movement of molten glass rather than the weight of fruit, so the bowl reads more like a sculpture than a still life. Acrylic on canvas, three panels.
